In 2020, businesses of all sizes are facing a wide variety of cyber-threats. The issue of compromised networks and data isn’t going away, and industry experts anticipate cybercrime will be a significant challenge for businesses in this decade. As such, IT teams have a responsibility to make sure that their practices and policies reflect the latest understanding of what cybersecurity is needed to counter cyber criminals.

Cybercrime in 2020

A recent study by the University of Maryland reveals that hacker attacks occur every 39 seconds. Attacks take many forms including ransomware, phishing, malware, and website hijacking. The massive growth of these attacks is partly because there is a plethora of readily available cybercrime software that makes it easier for criminals to conduct them. And another factor is the global shortage of qualified cybersecurity specialists.

Is Your Business Ready?

In the 2020s, 68% of business leaders indicate that cybersecurity risks confronting their organizations represent a growing threat. Yet in spite of this, 73% of companies, states Hiscox, a business insurer that offers CyberPolicy insurance, are not ready to deal with a cyber-attack. Many perceive cyber-threats to be technological issues. The result is a mindset that does not see the need to “support their investment in security technology with a formal strategy, sufficient resourcing and training, and sound processes.”

How You Can Protect Your Business in 2020
